Sofia Airport has been operational since the 1930s, but underwent some recent expansion with the addition of the very modern Terminal 2 in 2009. The two terminals are not an easy walk apart, but there is a free shuttle between them that runs every 30 minutes.

You can also travel by train to Sofia Airport by going to Mladost metro station and taking a shorter bus journey of around 10 minutes from there.
